I recall when I was younger, very few times when I was still and quiet (my poor parents). I was never one to consider it and even if I had wanted to, I was easily distracted. I wasn’t necessarily productive either. Just churning along and not taking anytime to pray or meditate on anything when in fact it would have helped me immensley. I still don’t do it enough but when I do, I find God active and working in my life. Isn’t that what we all want? To have the King of Kings, our Lord and Saviour transforming our lives for His glory and our good? I thought so. Me too 🙂
In early May of this year (2015) I was at church listening to Pastor Jason’s great message on “Life In The Spirit” and I had a revelation. (I love when that happens btw). I’ll explain….
My kids are 18 to 23 years of age and I get it, I’ve been there. When I was their age I just wanted to have fun, not get too serious and certainly didn’t want anymore parenting in my life. But now as a parent, I ache sometimes because of all the time, love, wisdom and direction I have for them but don’t often get the opportunity to share. It can be frustrating when you know you can help people live a better life and never get the chance to help or if you do, have it fall on deaf ears.
Now, imagine how God feels when we as His children, either don’t spend time with Him or we don’t respond to His will in our lives? Can you imagine what it would be like if we were able to connect with Him as much as He wants and respond every time? The results would be mind blowing and life changing in the extreme!!
Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You can’t ask for more love than that!! We love our kids to our core but God’s love for us is far greater and more than we can ever comprehend. You too can have a revelation of the love, wisdom and direction He wants to freely give us if you just take the time to give Him the opportunity. That’s all… Just some time!
Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NLT)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
My quiet time with God amazes me. It’s when I am most sensitive to His will. In an instant I can go from being negative to positive or tired to refreshed. Other times God will deposit ideas or people and places on my heart. He gives me focus, insight, strength, awareness, joy and so much more. When I meet with Him, love and revelation thrive!
God has so much for you. I encourage you to open up your heart and your day planner completely to Him 🙂
